Richard Chappell Dance Work In Progress Performance

Join Richard Chappell Dance for this small, intimate sharing of its next creation

Join Richard Chappell Dance for this small, intimate sharing of its next creation, at The Hall, Exeter. In this performance, RCD shares the early stages of the work in progress, providing insights into how the company makes work and collaborates with its internationally renowned ensemble of dancers. This is a unique chance to experience this new work in a studio setting ahead of its premiere tour next spring, including Exeter Northcott on 15 May 2023.

Alongside our work, local South West choreographer and former BalletBoyz dancer and member of Russell Maliphant Company, Edd Arnold shares a work in progress of a new work, created through RCD’s Supporting Acts Programme.

Run time: 1 hour

Start Time: 5pm

Location: The Hall, Stepcote Hill, Exeter EX1 1BD

As The Hall is situated on Stepcote Hill, the venue’s entrance is only accessible via a slope and is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. Should this present a barrier for you to experience our work, the event is being live streamed through The Hall. More information on this will be announced on their website soon.

My Dog Sighs - artist talk and book signing

My Dog Sighs INSIDE comes to Exeter

About this event

Last year My Dog Sighs’ most ambitious project to date "INSIDE:We Shelter Here Sometimes", transformed a derelict ballroom into an immersive world inhabited by the artist’s own sculptural creatures, dubbed his ‘Quiet Little Voices’ and welcomed 10,000 people through the door over the 16 days of opening.

My Dog Sighs has produced an art book based on his highly acclaimed installation/exhibition. The captivating, beautifully produced photo book reveals all the artwork from INSIDE:We Shelter Here Sometimes as well as a comprehensive and candid documentation of the 18 month journey of the exhibition’s creation. My Dog Sighs has continued the multi layer intriguing theme with the book, creating a game-changing publication that breaks many conventions of the accepted norms of a high end coffee table art book. It is playful and, like the exhibition, encourages discovery of hidden elements that take time to reveal themselves.

My Dog Sighs said “I’m a street artist, working on the street is my passion and at the core of everything I do. When Covid forced us all inside then I, like everyone else, had to change the way I work. This unleashed a surge of creativity which I channelled into my immersive installation and this book. This lovingly produced book is as much inspired by Kit William’s Masquerade as it is by the great street art publications.

My Dog Sighs will kick off the event with a discussion about his creative journey and the project and then hold a question and answer session with the audience. Books, prints and merchandise will be available for sale and there will be an opportunity to get books signed.

PLEASE NOTE: This venue is on a very steep cobbled road. If you use a wheel chair please call us on 079 4646 8447 to arrange assistance.
