Adam Benjamin two day Improvisaton Workshop

Two Days of Improv with Adam Benjamin

A workshop in which ideas grow, in which our trust in each other creates the fabric that supports us in our explorations. A workshop of forgetting the right ways of doing things, and remembering the value of not knowing the answers. The workshop will explore the interplay between movement and text; it doesn’t mean you have to speak, it doesn’t mean you have to dance – it’s about choices, silences and stillness and the moments when words dance and bodies speak.

Choreographer Richard Chappell and violinist Enyuan Khong leads a free workshop

Choreographer Richard Chappell and violinist Enyuan Khong leads a free workshop for dancers and musicians at The Hall, Exeter.

Exploring Richard Chappell Dance’s unique approach to collaborating with musicians and composers, the workshop will be led by Richard and violinist Enyuan Khong. The day will start with a physical warm up, followed by a sharing of how Richard and Enyuan have collaborated on our existing creation Infinite Ways Home and a new work in progress. The workshop concludes with dedicated time for local musicians and dancers to connect together and explore potential new routes to spark future collaborations.

Suitable for local dancers aged 16+ and musicians who have an interest in collaborating in dance contexts. For local musicians, we encourage people to bring your instruments to the space if practical, or digital copies of your music if that is more preferable to you.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be invited to attend a sharing of Richard Chappell and Enyuan Khong’s latest creation in a brief work in progress sharing, followed by a post show discussion.

Should you have any queries about this, please email saoirse@richardchappelldance.co.uk.

Sometimes wild and athletic, sometimes quiet and meditative, it is a form open to all bodies and enquiring minds.
