Why Choose The Hall
Saying goodbye to someone you love deserves time, care, and a space that feels right. At The Hall, we believe memorial services should unfold at their own pace, allowing families the comfort of being truly present.
The Hall is a Grade II* listed former Sunday School and Theatre which has been painstakingly restored over 10 years. Here, you have the freedom to take your time – to share stories, to laugh and cry together, to display cherished photos and mementos. There's no need to watch the clock or hurry proceedings along. Your celebration can simply unfold as it needs to.
Your family and friends gather in a beautiful, homely space that feels welcoming and personal. The service flows gently into the wake, with everyone already together in one place – no rushing between venues, no worrying about directions or logistics. It's simply about being together, honouring your loved one in your own way, surrounded by the people who matter most.
We think that's how it should be. A proper goodbye, taken at the right pace, in a place that feels like home.
Understanding Your Options
We know that choosing how to say goodbye involves many considerations, including practical ones. Here's some information that might be helpful as you think about what's right for your family.
Traditional crematorium services typically cost:
Weekday service: £1,044 for one hour
Saturday service: £1,499 for one hour
Our Full Funeral Service & Wake: £1,400 for seven hours
The difference is in having time – time to gather properly, to share memories without rushing, to move naturally from ceremony to wake. Many families tell us it made all the difference to have everyone together in one comfortable place, with no need to relocate or watch the clock.
Another option worth considering:
Some families are now choosing direct cremation (from around £499) as a simpler, more affordable approach to the cremation itself, then holding their main celebration at The Hall. This allows you to focus your time and resources on the gathering that brings everyone together – a personal, meaningful celebration in a beautiful setting.
For example, a direct cremation combined with our Full Service comes to around £1,899 total, often providing much longer time together and a more personal experience than traditional options, sometimes at a similar or lower overall cost.
We're happy to discuss what might work best for your family, with no pressure whatsoever.
A More Personal, Often More Affordable Approach
Many families are now choosing to hold a meaningful celebration at The Hall, followed by a simple direct cremation. This provides much longer time together in a personal space, often for similar or lower cost than traditional options.
Traditional crematorium service:
Weekday: £1,044 for 60 minutes only
Saturday: £1,499 for 60 minutes only
Plus separate wake venue hire (typically £500+)
Total: approximately £2,000 (before food/bar)
Our Full Funeral Service & Wake + Direct Cremation:
Full Service at The Hall: £1,400 for 7 hours
Direct cremation: from £499
Total: approximately £1,900 (before food/bar)
The difference:
Time to breathe and be present
Make the space personal to your loved one
Seamless flow from service to wake
Flexible timing without watching the clock
Comfortable, homely venue with full hospitality
Often similar or lower cost overall
We're happy to discuss what might work best for your family, with no pressure whatsoever.
All our packages include professional coordination with funeral directors and celebrants. We understand this is an important day, and our experienced team will ensure everything runs smoothly and with care.
